IMPORTANT: Sesame is a major food allergen — in the United States, it's one of the nine allergens the FDA requires to be specifically labeled on packaged food, alongside peanuts and tree nuts. Sesame allergy can cause reactions ranging from mild to severe, including anaphylaxis, and persists into adulthood in a majority of cases. If you or someone you're serving has any known sesame allergy, avoid sesame entirely in every form (seed, oil, and tahini).
