What the Golden Dawn actually taught
Book T does not describe her in terms of stillness or inner knowing at all. Its divinatory meaning is “change, alteration, increase and decrease, fluctuation,” explicitly cross-referenced to Death and The Moon. The serene keeper-of-secrets reading is a Waite-era shift; the Order’s card was about flux.
Imagery & symbolism
Seated between two pillars, black and white, she holds a scroll half-hidden beneath her veil. A crescent moon rests at her feet; behind her, a curtain embroidered with pomegranates conceals whatever waits beyond the threshold.
