The World
Upright
Completion, wholeness, integration, fulfillment.
Reversed
Incompletion, delays, lack of closure.
What the Golden Dawn actually taught
The most structurally unusual entry. Book T reads: “the matter itself; synthesis; kingdom; usually denotes the actual subject of the question, and therefore depends entirely on the accompanying cards.” It does not promise a good outcome the way RWS’s fixed “completion” does — it marks this card as the heart of what is being asked.
Imagery & symbolism
A dancing figure, draped in soft cloth, holds a wand in each hand inside an oval wreath of laurel. At the wreath’s four corners, an angel, an eagle, a bull, and a lion watch from their fixed places — the four corners of everything, gathered around one point of stillness.
Numerology
21 reduces to 3 — creative completion fully realized; wholeness achieved.
