Horseradish

Armoracia rusticana P.Gaertn., B.Mey. & Scherb.

horseradish

Safety Notes

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding in anything beyond normal condiment amounts — horseradish contains mustard oil compounds with a documented association with uterine contractions at higher intake. Not recommended for young children under 4. Has a real goitrogenic effect (can interfere with thyroid function) — those with a thyroid condition should moderate intake and consult a healthcare provider regarding regular use. Large amounts can irritate the digestive tract; topical preparations can cause skin irritation.
