Pumpkin seeds are well tolerated as a food and carry few documented risks in ordinary amounts. They have a mild diuretic effect and are high in vitamin K, so those on blood thinners, blood pressure medication, or diuretics should mention regular pumpkin seed consumption to their healthcare provider, particularly if eating them in supplement-level quantities rather than as an occasional snack. Whole seeds are a choking hazard for young children — offer them ground or finely chopped instead. Those with a history of kidney stones may want to moderate intake given their oxalate content. Ordinary food amounts during pregnancy are considered a good source of zinc and magnesium; medicinal-strength extract doses are not well studied in pregnancy and should stick to food-level amounts.
